“Our students love the realism of SimServeRx. It mimics the [competitive] system they’ll see in the hospital—right down to the drawer and cell prompts— which helps them build confidence and clinical judgment before they ever set foot in a real med room.”
Teresa Gates BS-Ed, MSN RN LPN Instructor
EHOVE Career Center
To better prepare LPN students for real-world clinical practice, EHOVE Career Center integrated SimServeRx into its nursing simulation program. Students have appreciated the system’s realism, including drawer prompts and medication checks that reflect hospital workflows. With no previous technology in place, SimServeRx filled a vital gap, enhancing simulation quality and building student confidence in safe medication dispensing and administration.

Empowering Students and Faculty: SimServeRx® at EHOVE Career Center
How were you handling medication dispensing simulation before SimServeRx®?
We did another way. We had just a basic cart with meds, put in drawers. Um, again, I kind of, I had printed off the barcodes for those medications. Um, and they had, I made little patient charts, so they would have to go through and look on their mar what was noon, and then they would just pull the drawers out. There was no electronics to it.
How has SimServeRx® made your simulations more realistic?
I think that what makes it easier is that, um, the students aren’t taking their time. They have to read each drawer that the drawer pops open, but you know, the whole. Thing with nursing is reading and following directions and reading orders and following that. So they need to, with that drawer popping out, they need to read and follow the directions that are on the screen.
This is where it’s located. If that’s not what’s there, then you can’t, you don’t take that, you have to report that. So, um, I let, I, that I think has made more sense to them than just the manual cart where they had to search and find and whatever.
How has SimServeRx® simplified your teaching process?
The easy part is in just walking ’em through. Start the round, okay, here’s your patient. Go ahead and administer. And that has simplified like our competency with them taking it through. Okay, here you go. Do your thing, and they have to know what they’re doing. So they like practicing on it and, and playing with it and seeing the different things they can do. So in that respect, it’s totally simplified that process.
What stood out to you about the support you received from the 3AM Technologies team?
I felt he went above and beyond being able to help me with that stuff. ’cause I thought, well, that’s not even what this call is about. It was just about the PC and getting everything started. So that was very helpful to me and, um, just be knowing that if I had a question to reach out to Sharon or to reach out to whomever and say, Hey, I’ve, I’ve got this issue and it’s probably on my end, but, you know, can somebody give me a call and let me know what to do?
So that was very helpful. Didn’t. Feel like I was alone in that situation, and I know that if I do have questions, that’s how I go about it. I, I got a direct number to get ahold of somebody, so that made it, the process a little less intimidating. I.
What would you say to someone considering SimServeRx® for their simulation center?
So it has a lot of good features that can be utilized. I’m sure I’m just scratching the surface of it. I’m sure I haven’t even gotten into as much as we can. But for that, for that standpoint, if you’re looking for a good way to introduce them to the systems that are going to be used in an acute care setting, it’s a good product to use because it’s, it’s very realistic.
